Steven Clough

Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1980 and raised in various parts of Gateshead I was inspired by my studies for A-level art to persue a university education wtih an artistic flavour. I successfully completed an Art Foundation Course at the University of Central Lancashire and subsequently went on to gain my BA(Hons) in Illustration at the same institution.

During my studies, I worked in a variety of mediums and textures but always returned to pastel, which I found not only the most interesting but also the most adaptatble for the subjects I chose.

Initially influenced by the work of Georgia O'Keefe, I feel that the combination of the pastels vivid blends or ghostly suggestions lend themselves beautifully to my portrayal of a myriad of subjects.

I have always found inspiration in the natural forms and colors found in nature. I endeavour to add as much depth as possible to add realism to my almost draughtsman like style.
